Skill Acquisition and Trade Training Project
This project is formed to provide skill acquisition and trade training for Annang individuals in Nigeria that will create career and entrepreneurial opportunities for them to build wealth, strengthen connections between US chapters and individual members within NAF USA, and help recruit members for NAF Nigeria. To support applicants to this project, Nto Annang foundation will be providing $500 grants to help sponsor the implementation of training of the grant recipient's choice.
Project Guidelines
- An active member of NAF USA sponsors an Annang individual in Nigeria. Each sponsor completes the application below, that describes the skill acquisition and trade training project, identifies the Annang individual to be trained, and provides the cost and milestones for the trade training.
- The sponsor and trainee identify the training organization. The training can be done in any city in Nigeria and in any trade that will provide effective training for the trainee to begin a career and/or create an entrepreneurial opportunity to start a business. The sponsor and trainee work together to complete the project.
- NAF USA reviews the application and if the project is approved, NAF USA will provide a $500 grant to the sponsor to implement the training. Sponsor will be expected to provide additional financial support and mentoring to the trainee to complete the training and eventually start a career or business.
- The sponsor takes an active role in monitoring the trainee to complete the skills acquisition and trade training project and provides quarterly reports to NAF Board of Directors (BOD) throughout the duration of the project. Each year, during the NAF USA annual conference, sponsors with ongoing projects and projects that have been completed during the conference year will be expected to provide an in-person report to the BOD at the annual conference. Sponsors should be available to answer questions from the BOD.
- Trainees are encouraged to join and be active members of NAF Nigeria.
- When the project is approved and the award is made, the sponsor signs an agreement with NAF USA. Sponsor is required to refund the $500 if the required certificate of completion and final report are not provided at the end of the training period. Exceptions for refunding the grant when projects are not completed, due to unavoidable circumstances, will be considered on a case-by-case basis by NAF USA.
- Monitoring and site visit of the project by NAF USA or its agents in Nigeria may be made at any time to ensure progress and accountability.
- NAF USA BOD will decide how many grants are awarded each year.
